Who is amalek
On the other hand, Gen. That they were of obscure origin is also indicated in Num. Consequently, they must be considered as possessors of the Sinaitic peninsula, of the modern desert et-Tih, or at least of the northern part of it.
According to Num. The extreme south seems to be meant, the pasture lands of the Negeb, not the arable parts. The relation of the Kenites to the Amalekites is not quite plain. According to I Sam. This would indicate that the Kenites formed a connecting-link between the Israelites, or their southern tribes, and the Amalekites.
A similar relationship might be assumed for the Kenezites. The Amalekites themselves always appear as hostile to Israel. Thus Judges, iii. It is on this account that Saul leads an expedition against them I Sam. The defeat and capture of the Amalekite king, Agag the only Amalekite name preserved , by Saul seem to be referred to also by Balaam Num. It is not known what locality is meant by "the city of Amalek," which evidently was situated "in the valley"—that is, the plain I Sam.
One would not expect that the settlements of such a wandering nation would deserve the name of a city. David waged a sacred war of extermination against the Amalekites, who retaliated I Sam. David, however, followed and caught the Amalekites on the retreat, regaining their captives and spoils. On this occasion the Amalekites, like all desert warriors, made their raids upon camels. After this defeat Amalek disappears, so that it seems as though the nation had actually been exterminated by the wars with Saul and David.
The Amalekites provide an explanation for the irrational and intense hatred for Jews that echoes through human history. Israel was no longer under obligation to enact physical vengeance upon an extant people.
Amalek remained as a metaphor, lurking in human history as a persistent force of evil. These stories call us to a form of remembering that we, too, pass down, each time we open these pages of the Bible.
Each time we read, we explore our fear, our enmity, and our vengeance. Walter Brueggemann says that God is a recovering practitioner of violence. But perhaps when we read these stories we instead discover a startling truth about ourselves. Enemies are real. There are destructive forces of violence that haunt the lives of the vulnerable.
We need a God who names evil, who is on the side of the oppressed and forgotten. But this acknowledgment is not meant to be done in the isolation of this or that narrative. Our questions stretch across biblical stories, carried from generation to generation by all of us as we work out our relationship to God and our neighbors. The Bible provides scripts for how to read these relationships. And as we involve ourselves in these stories, we are drawn into family history, a family feud.
I have a penchant for biblical losers. The Old Testament is in the habit of unsettling our piety through these marginalized characters. They frustrate the lines between those who are in and those who are out. The story of Esau offers a tender and frustrating tale of ambiguous prophecies that change destinies, prophetic words that introduce us to a God who works toward the good of all. Before Esau and Jacob are born, their futures escape their control.
Imagine what it must be like: your body curled next to that of your twin brother, your mother whispering words over your crib.
Imagine hearing the women talking as the two of you walk along. With this announcement, God appears to Rebecca. Now not one but two nations wrestle within her body, until she can bear it no longer.
Brothers are born, twins distinct yet the same whose struggle will reverberate through time—all the way to those of us who call these scriptures our own today. When it comes to the birth story of Jacob and Esau, it is difficult for us to stand back from the text. We know where the story ends. After the initial prophecy to Rebecca and the jockeying in the womb, the twins grow up together.
Over time the differences between them blossom. Esau: the red one, hairy and strong, beloved of his father, a hunter in the wood.
Jacob: the grasper, sly and zealous, dear to his mother, living in the tents. One day Esau returns from a hunt famished, and Jacob offers him stew in exchange for his birthright. Strange as it may seem, Esau takes the bait.
In this story, no one comes out looking good. Jacob is a plotting usurper, taking advantage of his brother at a vulnerable moment. He sees an opportunity and grasps at it. Esau, on the other hand, comes across as bumbling and oafish, a hungry animal-like teenager who makes bad decisions. At no point, however, does the Bible apply a moral judgment to either of the twins.
They act very much like people. We get no clear moral judgment out of this story—though we do find a caution about trying to make the world work out the way we think God intends it to be. The prophecy is ambiguous, the words in Hebrew unclear. As the plot develops, we readers decide who will serve whom—as Esau and Jacob jostle with each other, fighting for their own version of the prophecy, scrambling for a future in which one beats the other.
We are like Rebecca, deciding and plotting which brother will win. And Jacob knows the course this usually takes: inheritance, lineage, power, a name. He is bent on fulfilling this single purpose.
The breaking point for Esau and Jacob comes when their father is on his deathbed. In addition to passing down the birthright, Isaac will place a blessing on each of his children.
Bless me, too, father! Besides that, where is the genetic evidence that Germans are really just ethnic Syrians? It really just appears that jews like you hate both the Syrians and Germans, thus you are looking for excuses to rationalize your desire for genocide of those groups. How many times can jews claim to be against genocide on the one hand, yet rationalize and welcome genocide on the other hand?
Thanks for the article. As a Christian who is delving into the Hebraic side of my faith, Amaleq keeps popping up in unexpected places; hence I have arrived at your door.
Particularly, from my perspective, in relation to Revelation. The Beast almost has to be Amaleq, because that follows the pattern laid out in Torah. The spirit of Amaleq was for certain in Nazi Germany and I would be greatly surprised if Himmler was not of Edomic descent. That same spirit is alive and, sadly, well today, particularly in the nations surrounding Israel, who, for some reason known only to HaShem, actually take on the manifestations of both Amaleq AND Philistia.
There is a light at the end, in the arrival of Messiah, who will put an end to Amaleq, once and for all. Again, thanks for the article. May HaShem pour blessings upon you and yours and may Israel abide. I think this article is very insightful. My only question was how Jewish support of civil rights could be seen as a devious means of harming the Jewish people. Am I missing something? Aside from this question, as I said, I really got alot out of the article….
Why did so many Jewish people chose to live around Germans, to also adopt and adapt their language as Yiddish? Gentiles in America next presumably? Woe to those who live next to the tend of Jacob. Also, Jews very often had little choice of where to live, they would wander from one place to another and live wherever they could. According to your logic the Jews are today killing the Arabs but the Jews were the ones who were killed by the Germans and Poles and not vice versa.
Jews like Yagoda and Kaganovich were involved in the murder of millions of Russians and Ukrainians. Jews like yossi will deflect, trick, and deceive about this, but the brutal butchers of the Bolshevik takeover of Russia were massively disproportionately Jewish. It was these jewish communist butchers that the national socialists feared. We frequently forget the important events that preceeded Hitler…. Without this Jewish takeover of Russia, and the attempted Judeo Bolshevist takeover of Germany, Hitler likely never would have come to power.
Most of these Jews identified more with various modern day movements then with their own religion. Almost all were in fact secular. As the old joke goes, A Jews gets washed up on an empty island. When he is later saved, the rescuer asks why he needs two synagogues. In fact, it was you yossi that said Germans are Amalek and thus deserve extermination. Just look at the anti white hostility of ethnic Jews like you. And they will all be American citizens.
We have tipped beyond the point where a Nazi-Aryan party will be able to prevail in this country. Until that task is accomplished, even partial reform will prove elusive, because white influence permeates every issue in U. Again, you cannot have it both ways. For many people, it appears that you ethnic jews are Amalek. For the Germans, that you clearly hate, Jews are Amalek. For the Palestinians that your people clearly hate, Jews are Amalek.
You and your people have shown over and over your hostility towards both groups. Either genocide is wrong, or it is not. Shalom yossi thank you for your most excellent article. I got to your post because i was doing a study on the 7 evil spirits a book by Noe Leon. Iam what the world would consider to be African American ,but i know iam a child of the most high and in Him their is neither male nor female slavd nor free.
As a Christian, I am trying to understand the significance of Amalek and the Amalekites. Your article was so timely, perfectly written and very useful! Thank you very much! I never thought of them comparatively. Rabbi Sonnenfeld was a patriot to his people. I pray for the peace of Yerushalem.
Your G-d is my G-d. I thank you for the article. It is well written and to the point. I do see some comments that fail to understand the history of hatred toward the Jewish People.
May Hashem open their eyes to the truth. I always condemn the treatment Jews suffered in the hands of the Nazi Germans but at the same token my conscience asks me what about the plight of Palestinians too? Great article.. I enjoyed reading this. It was always ingrained into me by my father who was a pentecostal pastor, that we must obey the commandment to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
And in my daily prayers I never forget to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and Israel. And I always bless Israel, and the Jews. For they who bless thee, God will bless, but they who curse thee, God will also curse.
God gave us authority over the earth and the animals. I pray that you will put your hope in God. Would it be fair to say they believe only in science? My belief is this, just like any amazing novel written, sometimes we are left needing a sequel, hence the scriptures and so forth.
Anywho, I too suffer at times with this confusion that was spoken of and its upsetting. But in my heart? I feel the truth.
Got to hold on tight to that. I would like to add anyone who denys there is a God and is evil or commits evik acts in the name of G also. Why do I feel I sound re think this post? So Amalekites are using their skill to turn people against the Jews.
Pharaoh was one of them. Is the American pharaoh the modern leader put up on the throne by thieves bankers? Pushing abomination of abortion and sodomy on the people of God and calling what is good bad and what is bad good?
Must just be me and my perception. I do not know about the location of the Amalekites. However from the Bible and history I know the general movement of Israel — not Judah. When Israel was taken captive by Assyria they were relocated the other side of the Euphrates River and various other areas such as south and perhaps east of the Caspian Sea.
They also were found south of the Black Sea. Paul, the apostle which the Lord Jesus Christ sent to the gentiles when the Jews rejected him, could not go to the area south of the Black Sea as Jews were there.
It seems that there must have been more Jews there than in southern Turkey, and why the apostles to the Jews went there. The apostles to the Jews, that is the twelve, went to those areas. Persecution by the Russians and Jews scattered them even from these areas, but many Jews were found from the Black Sea to Russia and Germany.
The remnant that came back to Israel started from these countries, and has spread to all countries where Jews were scattered to. After this I have speculation. I think the Amalekites are the Moslem peoples.
This is my speculation, but it is based upon scripture. One great difference is that before the cross man was under a curse, but after the cross man was under mercy and grace. That is why the number that died at Sinai were saved at Pentecost. The power of the cross. The Amalekites are the enemies of the Jewish people. But who are the Jewish people?
What makes a Jew, a Jew? I mean what if the Amalekites are in Jews clothing? I think the amalekites of today are the most powerful among nations, and who are those today? Ask yourself who is behind everything abominable, horrid, disrespectful to God in today world? What you are referring to may be the Aruv Rav, as in: A mixed-multitude also left with them, as did flocks, herds, and a lot of cattle. Exodus The mixed multitude in the times of the bible was blamed for serving the golden calf and all of the major problems.
But in the end, they will be redeemed. Subject Amalek: Esau is the father of the so called Caucasian race. Esau through his evolutionary stage has called himself many names : Caucasian, a word just developed in april 11 in Gottingen by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach.
Aryan, coined in by Professor friedrich Max muller, indoeuropean or indo germanic in , by the German Indianist H. See Book of Key fact by the queens bury group Esau inter married, conqured them and pushed them out and took over the caves. Langer , After coming from the caves in seir Historian began to name Esau the modern man.
These term have been used retrograde to give a false representation of Esau the so called white man to hide his true Identity.
Believe it or not Yahveh did not change Jacob name to Jew, but called and named him Israel. Jew is a term used by the so called white man Esau during the days of John Hyrcanus who conqureded the whole of Edom and converted them to Judaism Joseph.
The jews you speak of are converts Edomites. The term Jew first appears in scripture in the 18th century in the King James version and the Douay version. There are no know people in the earth that was given the name Jew by Hashem or Yahveh.
Jew is a religion developed by the European Khazars who are descent from Esau. Esau has a perpetual hatred for Jacob and is trying to get the blessing back. In Psalm 83 vs. Esau was and is Red and hairy today. According to anthropology Caucasian or so called White people are the Hariest and they are red and not white.
According to Gesenius, Hebrew and Chaldee lexicon , The definition of Man perhaps so called from the idea of redness, compare The Arabs distinguish two races of men; one red, ruddy, which we call white, the other black. But both these races are sprung from adam. According to anthropology there are no true white people except for albinos. Based on Webster the new international dictionary the term white person is: a person of the Caucasion race 6 Fed.
In the time of slavery in the united states White person was generally construed made up as a person without admixture of colored blood. According to Rashi, Esau is Rome and that is through his descendent Romulus. This Pharoh Ramnes was an Edomite Amalekite that was aware of Ishrael present in Egypt and put them in captivity because Esau hated jacob because of the blessing.
The first European or idumean, people to be civilized. What is it good for? I have a question. When did any of you go into slavery and be oppressed for years to consider yourselves Israel??? I will ask that one question for now, being there are many others.
But please, with accuracy and truth, answer that for me. Thank you. Have a good one. Forever, love your name. And mostly because of your love for our Father Yhwh who is love and the spirit of love comes from the heart, not the flesh.
Even as the mashiach said to Nicodemus, the flesh profits nothing; the Spirit is profitable for ALL things. Thanks for the information. What I found interesting was the notion that even Jewish leaders maybe infused with this evil and therefore Amalek. I think that certainly speaks to the current leader of Israel. I only pray that one day Israel obtains leaders worthy to lead that nation and that way is only through peace and love and learning to turn a cheek.
Here in Canada we just got rid of our evil. Ah — another Jew hater. Oh, Yawn. The current leader of Israel is an amazing man and the Jewish people are blessed to have him.
The nation of Israel and its people have turned all four cheeks — and still more is demanded of them. God bless Israel and its people. And the battle between Good and Evil continues in spite of ignorance, unfounded hatred and prejudice. There is still hope for Canada — and America will resolved its hideous, leaderless and horrifically damaging presidential void this coming November.
The One will most definitely bring His true people back into Israel when the time of the gentiles be fulfilled. Gentiles are the ones who currently trample over Jerusalem, not Hebrews. True Hebrews are still scattered to the four corners and are in exile, as per The Word. It seems like many on this comment board need to go back to bible study without the racial bias film over their eyes and the white supremacy cotton balls stuffing their ears.
Once back in The Promised Land, we will ensure that the Word of Yah is being obeyed by all nations and the world, indeed, will be a better place once the saints rule the world. Wow so if Israel had completely eradicated the Amalakites…then the hollocoast might never of happened. It appears the Ashkenazis are the actual Amalakites.
They lived in the country of Khazaria next to Russia. They were such a disgusting paganistic bunch that the king of Russia demanded they convert to Christianity or Judism. This was in the s AD.
